The fact that people are tiptoeing around it in the comments and it still got locked is insane.
Fear not, my son, for in the land of the free range lemmings and mastodons, Saint Luigi has your back, yo:
I am impressed at the level that this man (allegedly) scared the ruling class. I think they’re making a critical mistake though in assuming that these types of crackdowns combined with a spiraling economy won’t just make people who are even more desperate and motivated.
Before Luigi, people who violently lashed out at the system usually targeted colleagues as a way to express frustration or disenfranchised groups as a way to mark a difference in social standing. Generally, these people have been criticized by the public and rightfully so.
Now, there is a target for this group of people that will get praise by the public at large and it is freaking them out. At worst, they expected that the event would be treated as a murder. That Luigi is being celebrated as a folk hero means the next violent gun man is far more likely to target them.
We should use this as a chance to spread the word about lemmy… “Lots of Mario Bros related content on lemmy” or something to that effect.
What the fuck is their problem with Luigi? He’s the most underrated Super Mario Bros character.
/r/kitchenconfidential is based and one of the few subs I really miss since I came here.
Saying without saying is still saying. Reddit mods may be stupid, but not that stupid.
Do you think you can trick the rules by just prefacing everything with “I am not say, that…”
But is even mentioning Luigi against the rules? Do reddit rules ban the mention of any murderer (and he’s not even convicted), like Gacy or the Menendez brothers, or just ones that killed a millionaire?
Truth is tech bros like pigboy steve don’t want to be reminded that they’re giant pieces of shit, so of course they don’t have consistent rules.
Sure, but all of the double speak and dancing around words that the right does goes unpunished on the site.
Doesn’t justify doing so as well. It should be punished the same way. But don’t complain about you being punished, but justice being served unequally.
I’m all for equality. Equality doesn’t punch down, though. The rules don’t get to punish one group first and then say, “Well, we’ll get to that other group, too. Don’t worry about them.” If there isn’t equality throughout, then it’s just favoritism. If Reddit wants to have rules, then Reddit should abide by them at all times. If you think it requires too much effort to police that site, post something that falls hard left, and something that falls hard right, and see which one gets removed first. The site, as its core, is unequal.
Yes.
Get with the times, man. You gotta say “in Minecraft” afterwards, and then it’s kosher.
Fuck reddit! If the comment isn’t an overt call to violence let the user base upvote or downvote the comment as moderation. These are only words and we pay them too much credence. This is exactly why I left. You can barely have a thought there without the thought police banning you for some vague interpretation of the rules now. Fuck these pussies that whinge at every little vague threat and defend the literal demon billionaire class.
How about that hat, but in Minecraft.
