Ditch Amazon and big tech. Consume less in general. Do more with what’s on hand. Repair instead of replace.
Not everyone has the skills to do the above, so volunteering time to help others do this can help too.
More aware and cautious of what I buy / subscribe too. Cancelled all american run online stuff (amazon, netflix, etc.). Joined CBC Gem (and pay a subscription) in the hopes that maybe more content can be created. I also avoid American websites as much as it’s reasonably possible; which is kind of easy for me anyway since I don’t surf much anyway.
So, I pretty much only look to buy and participate in Canadian only stuff and European stuff.
Good idea. Just cancelled Prime. I’ll have to contemplate what else I’ve got.
I helped elect an NDP representative…
We started quoting some products in CAD rather than USD even if the manufacturer prices in USD. Previously we’d quote in USD so our quotes wouldn’t fluctuate with currency conversions.
Next step, joining BRICS
Well, Brazil is alright at the moment. Not sure the rest would align with Canadian interests.
What? That’s a huge jump
So the US trying to destabilize NATO is not a pro-BRICS strategy? And us distancing ourselves from them is? WTF is your logic here bud?
Dumped all the socials for our small business along with personal. We will find a new way.
This is a good idea. Hard to stomach losing LinkedIn and YouTube though. Can probably self-host our training videos and such, but there really is nothing like a LinkedIn alternative anywhere.
Most of the value of LinkedIn is in the critical mass of users. Hmm. How has Microsoft been reacting this this whole scenario in general? Are they busy missing the ring like the others? Or have they just shut up.
I wonder if there are fediverse alternatives to LinkedIn, even if poorly subscribed…
