The Verge just interviewed Evan Prodromou. That is, @evan@cosocial.ca, Research Director at @swf@socialwebfoundation.org, and co-author of #ActivityPub. And he shares some big news:
- The W3C is working on end-to-end encryption for ActivityPub
- The W3C is also working on group standards that have interoperability across the #Fediverse
- Evan predicts a big 100M+ user network joining the Fediverse, and it’s not Threads

It’s interesting that Evan Prodromou mentions groups, but doesn’t mention Lemmy, Friendica or even the Guppe group implementation.
He’s also weirdly overly warm to both Threads and BlueSky.

Evan’s job is to help build a standard implementation for groups for the W3C. He is also trying to pitch ActivityPub to organizations big and small.
@atomicpoet @fediversenews this is enormous! Great stuff!
He kinda teased that bit about ‘some other 100M user network will join the Fediverse this year’. I wanna know who!
@atomicpoet @fediversenews great news here, to be honest. That is a great sign.
I wish they provided a transcript. I prefer reading than listening when I’m not outside (and I rarely go out these days). They only provided links to previous articles, unless those were what they talked about?
Hyperlink to article unrelated, lol.
It’s a video. The first half is about Tesla, the second half is about ActivityPub
