I’ve been open to trying a trackball, and I definitely like the fact that it’s stationary. For the purpose of gaming, the trackball does have a chance at replacing a mouse for me. I prefer thumb flicks, like on controllers, compared to mouse movement.
I’ve been fortunate enough to use a trackpad on macOS, which works very well for a wide variety of reasons. It’s not for gaming, though, unless you want to pull a Wii and treat the trackpad as its own controller, with gimmicks.
