Episode 70: Embattled in Bassuras

Last we left off: Bells Hells, upon traversing the breadth of the Grey Valley to seek a means of aiding Keyleth from her unhealing wounds at the hand of Otohan Thull, during the moment of the Apogee Solstice. You bring her back to health, managed to peruse and cause a little bit of chaos in the Ashari city of Zephrah. You get a little tipsy in an evening of ‘winding down’ and then trek out to Yios, where it was discovered via Scry spell that Dancer, the one responsible for repairing and bringing FCG online not but a handful of years back, seemed to have found themselves.
In looking for someone to help you repair this strange, arcane harness that you had recovered from the past of Ludinus Da’leth, you went to speak to her.
After a somewhat tense encounter, here within the city of Yios, the City of Flowing Light, you convinced her to help you out. Unfortunately, she needs more of a workshop to do the work. Even then, her knowledge is a bit incomplete for what this requires. It was spoken that perhaps teaming up with Imahara Joe over in the city of Bassuras would be enough to likely get this to a place where it could be helpful, or at least get any information you would need around its history and purpose.
After being attacked by the ever-seeking Shithead, the bird which has claimed you as its primary focus of spite. In its undying spirit, you finally laid it to rest. Nothing but a pile of ash and feathers left behind.
Keyleth, coming along with you to aid you to eventual discussed prospect of heading to the Shattered Teeth where it seems a number of ancient elemental power seems to still swirl and shift the numerous islands of the fog-shrouded, broken continent to the far east, and mysteries that lie around the history and the essence of one Ashton Greymoore might be tethered.
With that in mind, Keyleth brought you through and to, I guess it would be an early morning tree in the central city of Bassuras here in the Hellcatch Valley. Here under the reddish glow of the still and locked moon Ruidus, you walk through the pre-dawn streets. The smoke stacks rising into the air.
As you seek your destination, we jump in. The first thing you begin to really notice that has changed since the last time you were present, beyond the tense energy of the handful of people that you see throughout the city. The Gajakhandas, the Crawler watchers all sitting at the corner of various streets. All look in strong alertness. You also begin to notice soldiers armored not of Marquesian design. For those who had stepped briefly into the realm of Issylra, you begin to see armor that resembles those, perhaps not specifically, of the Dawnfather’s temple. But you see similar shades of the Vasselheim bastions But you see similar shades of the Vasselheim bastions walking through.
You note that beyond the clusters of forces that are moving through the city gathering supplies like they’re briefly collecting what they can. You see the three skyships also of similar Othanzian make, not unlike the one that you saw crashed before you came to the Red Center in the Hellcatch Valley to confront Ludinus, not but a couple of weeks ago. You see three floating up, moored maybe no more than 50, 60 feet off the ground.
As one (explosions) flashes a blast explosion.
What looks like some sort of a flash and a burst of fire seems to erupt from the side of it. It lists and collides gently into one of the other ships pushing it slightly. As that occurs, you can see all the rest of the surrounding Gajakhandas look up into the sky in its direction.
Shouts and a handful of a bells begin to ring off in the city. You can see both soldiers and some of the local Gajakhandas wardens begin running off in that direction.
As the tension passes and most of those who are caught by it begin to rush by talking to each other. The rest of the handful of people that are beginning to wake up in the predawn light here, you can see, or into the darkness, technically. Are curious but not particularly worried. The explosion didn’t destroy the ship. But it certainly set it ablaze. You can see the crackling flames along the side of it, as it begins to lower back down out of sight below the edge of the Carmine Curtain. The general civilian populous, which you’ve only really, at this hour, see maybe two here, four there. You can see some of them are setting up carts. Which is interesting. Most of the places of business here are internal or within specific areas of the city. Like the Salmagunda Strip and stuff like that. There are people who are just setting up shop here in the roads. A quick point of understanding, whenever there are foreign powers briefly stopping in town, you know that the populous will do what it can to try and make a quick bit of change before they shove off.

Didn’t find the Imogen Image (ha!) I was looking for, but I’ve been a fan of The Temptation of Fearne (by bardiceye) for some time now.
