Everyone in the tech industry facepalms almost every time legislators try to pontificate on technology, but the British government appears to be trying to set a new record. After putting iMessage and FaceTime at risk, the government is now suggesting that it might ban some Apple security updates.

    I guess it was only a matter of time till gov agencies got tired of pretending and looking for exploits or buying them from security researchers. Now they’re just going to make security updates illegal to back door your machine, hooray.

    What do they even want to achieve with this? There are so many other E2E messaging apps criminals can switch to.
