Always blows my mind down here you only see a few people daily (usually on the foreshore / beach / shops) but people go out of their way to interact. Had more convos with randos down here in the last month than I have in the last 2 years in melbs.
I had the same problem. Actually when I hit late 40s lots less random weird people spoke to me compared to when I was younger. Using being an invisible middle aged woman to my benefit lol.
I can’t find the article I’m looking for, but I love the story of the older Aussie woman artist who decided to make a social commentary about how women of this age are frequently invisible by illegally putting up great big posters of her artwork in public places (in Ballarat and Bendigo I think). She would turn up in a hi vis vest and just put up her posters on public infrastructure without a permit and nobody ever stopped her or asked any questions. She got away with it for ages as I recall.
I always get found by people with dementia. I must look like I have the answers for them. Either that or I’ve worked too long with oldies and can spot it a mile away.
