Summary

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker has barred Jan. 6 rioters from state employment, countering Donald Trump’s mass pardons.

In a directive, Pritzker declared their actions “infamous and disgraceful,” emphasizing that government employees must uphold democratic values.

Trump’s sweeping pardons included Proud Boys and Oath Keepers members convicted of seditious conspiracy.

The move is expected to face legal challenges, but Illinois officials believe the personnel code provides strong legal footing.

Pritzker, a longtime Trump critic, has also opposed other recent federal actions, including a blocked freeze on federal aid.

It’s a prerequisite for employment. Some jobs require a college degree. Some jobs require a certain amount of experience in the field. Some jobs require that you have not tried to overthrow the government.

Probably is. I was thinking that with laws they have to be “more general” and that maybe there would be something similar that applied to government employment requirements… I’m starting to think that there probably isn’t.

The law was supposed to prevent donvict from office for similar activities. The least we can do is to apply it to these guys, if we cannot get donvict.

Who the fuck cares what’s “legal”

The laws we have don’t apply to the filthiest fascist this country has ever “elected” so why should any of us comply with the so-called laws?

I forget the term, but there’s an ideological theory where you only follow laws you think are moral (it’s not Moral Law, but close to that, it doesn’t need divine/etc meanings behind it). So you don’t kill people, because you feel murder is amoral, but you would ‘jay walk’, or steal from a mega-corporation. If fascists stop following laws, there’s an argument that letting them be protected by laws is going to keep them motivated to keep not following them.

Can’t remember what it’s called, I’m sure someone here will know.

[while it rains flaming shit] “So I’m not actually sure if this umbrella fully meets IP68 waterproofing standards, so I say we all just stand here and take it until someone can confirm otherwise, beyond a shadow of a doubt”.

You’re here, buddy… It’s happening. You’re waiting for an official red letter to arrive in the mail while the actual notice was tattooed on your forehead months ago. Start throwing every god damn thing you can grab at it, because you don’t know how many levels deep you are in the “first they came for…” this time around.

Reach for that high ground all you want, your musing about semantics on the rule of law while the president, his wife, his son, his son’s dipshit friend and the religious grifter who prayed at his inauguration all simultaneously launched and are rug pulling individual memecoins to steal Grandma’s grocery money. Ohh… and concentration camp at Guantanamo.

          GRRR WAKE UP.

Pardoned insurrectionist is not a protected class (thus, discrimination of said class is legal). That still matters at the moment.
