Katy’s commentary was completely desync’d from Robert and Cody’s audio. I actually couldn’t figure out what was going on for a while, I thought they were doing a bit, pretending to ignore Katy.
Actually… I always kind of notice Robert doesn’t really have much rapport with his female guests, even though I enjoy the podcast. It took me a long time to figure out what was happening, because even though he pauses for Katy’s comments he doesn’t really respond to them. Or maybe he did in this episode and it was just so chaotic I didn’t notice. I wish I had noticed earlier and turned it off, because I don’t think I’ll re-listen to it, even with the issues.
I hadn’t listened when you commented, actually just finished, and I don’t know if I agree, but I can see why you see things that way, particularly on the Katy and Cody episodes. I think Robert and Cody get on a roll for riffs quite easily, and when that happens it seems to me like she takes a step back. Totally can see your perspective on this though, especially if the audio was having issues as well.
It definitely happens most with Katy and Cody and mostly on BtB, but I don’t think it’s on purpose and I definitely disagree with OP about Robert not having great report with his female guests. Jaime Loftus and he have a great dynamic and in the episodes they did with just Katy a few months ago they had a much better rapport than when all three are present.
I think the issue is more that while they are all obviously close friends I think Cody is closer to both Katy and Robert than they are to each other. So since Robert is leading in BtB he’s starting the riffs which are often more in Cody’s wheelhouse than Katy’s. I don’t believe this was the case during worst year ever though because it was spearheaded by all three

Agree on all points.
