The Arrowhead Game Studios exec was asked about ‘DEI’ in the sci-fi shooter
Are they aware that the game they are helping to develop is a parody of fascism or do they seriously think that’s not a political statement on its own?
It still belongs in the making of the game. Having a vast array of influences and perspectives brings new ideas and awareness.
That being said, it would be antithetical for a deeply satirical game to champion contemporary issues. It isn’t as weird as little boys who unironically align with the messaging though.
Also, we should ignore anyone who says “DEI bad.”
Basically “no comment” with extra words. I am actually kind of glad, it presents a deeply dystopian world, united through hatred, ignorance and suspicion, very similar to Orwell’s Oceania. Adding rainbow flags would not only contradict the game’s style, but also send a very twisted political message.
