Personally I’m not a big fan. It’s more advantageous to camp for most of a game and you get barely any points for elims :/

Admittedly though, matchmaking has been a lot better.

They almost had something going for them this season but dropped the ball

I finished 7 with 3 kills = 50 points. Finished 6 with 0 damage = 40 points. Why risk getting into fights if you don’t get rewarded for it? Last season Masters was a participation prize. This year seems to be a real grind. Out of Rookie 1. ??!!!?!?!

SERIOUSLY… in my provisionals I won a couple times with some 2nd/3rd place games and still ended up in rookie 3 >_>

Ranked is REALLY bad right now.

    1. Displayed rank is nothing more that how much grinding you’ve done - it’s meaningless
    2. Matchmaking is awful - I get rolled by players with real master badges (not last season’s) nearly every game even though I’m at a whopping 1.0 k/d
    3. Ladder points make no sense - I’ll finish 19th with 1 kill and get 33 still points + 14 elimination points, then the next game I’ll finish 7th with 4 kills and 2 skill points + 0 elimination points

The changes this season show that Respawn doesn’t employ even a single competent data scientist. They’re a bunch of amateurs who maybe took a single Statistics 101 course back in college. The whole blog post about trying to “shift the curve” was particularly damning. They know what outcome is “good” but they have no grasp of the effects of the inputs into the process.

That’s why it is a last man standing game and not a basic team battle. I wish my solo queue teams could understand this.
