Dolly Parton gets a million points in my book for her Imagination Library. As a parent, it was invaluable to us as a way to provide our child with a revolving door of new books. And as a mail carrier, it makes me glad each time I drop one off. Dolly is GOAT.
It’s not available in our area (CT) do you know if there’s a way to pay imagination library for a subscription / alternatives?
You might find your answer here: https://support.imaginationlibrary.com/category/251-all-frequently-asked-questions
Do you not have a library nearby? Libraries were a huge part of my childhood. I can’t imagine not having them.
EDIT: This came up when I googled CT imagination library.
We do. But it’d be nice to have new books coming in every month.
No idea regarding Imagination Library having an alternative, even paid, subscription. As for an alternative service, it’s not exactly the same but my kid has been enjoying Epic, a kid’s reading app for phones and tablets that has subscriptions. Tons of books and many with narration.
Man, I have family that the only books they had were from that.
Thing is, Dolly herself (if she had replied) would likely have been kind ot the person and say, “Hey, you know what, I loved Whitney’s version too. Here’s mine if you want to hear it!”
Of course she would. She’s a gem!
Miss Dolly has praised Whitney’s version any time it comes up. She’s a bloody planetary treasure

Dolly’s version is perfect for when you’re feeling heartbroken. Whitney’s version is perfect for when you’re ready to move on.
Damn, she sang like a mix of Aretha Franklin and Captain Beefheart 😮🥰
Dose the list happen to be publicly available? I would love to listen to it.

No problem. Can I just ask how much space dose it take up?

That is a lot less than I thought, very good.
Not only is Dolly Parton a saint, she even finds ways to turn her profits - royalties paid to her for this song’s success with Houston - into actions that help Black communities.
that’s some next-level philanthropy shit right there.
Gappy avatar lol
And with a Jojo pfp too damn
Because she’s white, that’s all
Most of you just really hate black people for some reason
I’m sorry, I don’t understand what racism has to do with this post. This is don’t you know who I am - some random person tried telling the songwriter that her song was written by Whitney Houston. They were pretty condescending about it too. A third person corrected them. A person who is black from their profile pic, by the by.
No one is even saying that Dolly Parton’s original is superior. I suspect most people would say they preferred Whitney’s version. And absolutely no one here is saying they hate black people.
