    So ridiculous the amount of food that we grow only to waste it as decoration while there’s people starving…

      I feel like your ire could be much better aimed, when we have corporate level food waste on the scale of what could feed countries. It’s like when people disproportionately focus on an individual celebrity’s private jet usage, when the oil lobby is destroying our global climate on a scale many orders of magnitudes bigger. Two things can be bad, but let’s direct our responses proportionately. Additionally, many of these growing contests do go to being food afterwards.

        I’m talking about the general waste, not just this guy. Have you ever grown pumpkins? They use a ton of space for the number of viable ones on a plant and then they’re getting sold to make decorations that will end up in a landfill.

      It’s mostly water and from a single plant. Not like the dude destroyed a whole-ass field to grow it. Saw one guy doing this on his back porch.

        I’m talking about pumpkins (and other foods) in general, a shit ton of resources and fertile land wasted on growing pumpkins that will end up rotting on a porch
