    There was a point made in a couple of places I’ve seen to the effec of “AI doomerism can be seem as a kind of advertisement for AI”.

    Like, look, this is so powerful and so world-changing that it needs to be regulated!! We’re in the singularity!! We need to stop Skynet now!!! When what’s really happening is that it can turn a phrase that seems vaguely coherent if you don’t look at it too closely and a bunch of greedy people are going to try to fire their writing staff as a result.
