Intelligent people are supposed to change their stances on things when faced with new information. Good on her for having a brain and using it!
Would you rather have someone who can be moved to change their opinion or someone who is apparently proud that they’re the same person they were in first grade?

Do centrists have an argument that doesn’t involve immediately dismissing anyone to their left as a Trump supporter?
Not in America where those are the only 2 choices, no.
So to be clear, you’re calling anyone who has any criticism at all of Harris of being a Trump supporter?
No, I’m saying the winner of the election will either be Harris or Trump. You pick one or have the pick made for you.
The article is about Harris, who I am voting for on October 21, which is the day early voting opens in Texas. Your initial comment is predicated on the assumption that criticism of Harris maps 1:1 with trump support.
My two cents: Harris changing her opinions seem to match her trying to grasp what the majority of the public wants.
This is a good thing as Harris then isn’t being wishy-washy for no reason, but she is evolving her views to match the electorate.
She’s a Democrat. You didn’t honestly expect her to move leftward, did you?
Her opposition is setting the bar low.
That doesn’t mean we have to keep trying to limbo under it.
Basically took every major platform point from Joe Biden and moved it right…
Because the DMC thinks thatbsince she’s not a walking corpse, voters will hold their nose for shittier policy.
The goal of the DMC is to give voters just enough that they could win, instead, we could give voters the platform they want and just always win
But campaigns wouldn’t cost over a billion dollars then
Even on fracking…
She did that two years ago, she cast the tie breaking vote against a fracking ban.
It’s not just a couple moves thinking it’ll help her win the election, it’s been a steady and sustained change. Obama did it too, but he started a lot further left than Kamala.

Yeah, then the courts came in and prevented then from stopping fracking, https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/28/climate/biden-drilling-leases.html

Obama did it too, but he started a lot further left than Kamala. The fact that they did it shows just how well they understand that they need the center to win. This is unfortunate, but, can’t be helped.
Anyways, the time to deal with this is post-election, where we win over the hearts and minds of the rural and midwestern US to evolve a new position to end fracking nationwide.

Sadly makes sense. In 2019 she was trying to distinguish herself from other Dems in a primary. In 2024 she’s trying to win over moderate Republicans.
voters will hold their nose for shittier policy.
Because of course we need the moderate Republican vote to win, and even a rightward Harris is better than the other option. The idea is that Harris wins the next two elections, and good chance the other guy won’t be able to run when he’s in his 90s. So democracy saved, and then we go back to elections-as-usual.
But campaigns wouldn’t cost over a billion dollars then
I agree this is bad, but blame Citizens United (2010).
The goal of the DMC is to give voters just enough that they could win,
Leftie voters, that is.
instead, we could give voters the platform they want and just always win
Well, that’s what they’re trying to do indeed. But the coalition is too broad with too many disagreements, so not everyone can get everything they want. Your way could well cost Harris the election.
