“Taste for flesh” is painting us all as either zombies or cannibals. It’s ugly language that attempts to shame people for being normal. “Exhausted the Earth” is a gross exaggeration because the Earth isn’t exhausted. If the Earth was exhausted, humankind wouldn’t be around anymore. We’re still on Earth and still living on and from it, as evidenced by the fact that we’re here making comments on a post.

I’m sorry if that makes you feel uncomfortable, but it’s hell on Earth for livestock. I too, was raised an omnivore, just like I was raised to believe mutilation of genitals of our (American) baby boys was a normal, healthy thing to do. Imagine these practices never existed, then somebody out of the blue tells you they plan to try either one of them… Society’s wild.

I am exhausted 24/7 but i am still showing up for work because i can’t afford not too. Climate science is pretty bleak, were on the brink of ending the existence of our and other species (though indeed the planet will likely survive this)

We do not need to eat live-animal meat anymore, alternatives (like labgrown meat mentioned in the article) exists and are doable. The only reason we can’t have it is because of strict laws supported by bigmeat lobbyists. Italy has banned alternatives because they are convinced it cant TASTE as good as real FLESH. That is a choice.

Humanity is developed enough to make such choices and we are living one of them right now, and it ain’t a morally defendable one.

I love to eat meat btw, i don’t think i could handle being vegetarian.
