I’m a freshly minted pot-head in my mid 40’s! I’ve had alcohol issues most of my life. Last time I visited a legal state I decided I’d get some goodies and try them out to see if maybe I could substitute for alcohol. I’m finding it very helpful! What I like the most is that it doesn’t fuck with my sleep like alcohol does and I don’t feel like garbage in the morning. Unfortunately, I can’t smoke it properly due to the smell, but I’m really enjoying edibles and vaping. Anyway, just wanted to say hi!

Hello! I’m trying to transition away from smoking myself (I use medically and recreationally) because smoking is bad for your lungs, but nothing really beats the instant relief from smoking some flower. I personally haven’t tried one yet but I’ve heard a lot of people use a dry herb vape to some success.

Yeah, I got some live resin cartridges that work pretty well. I’m just learning about all the different products. I just wonder if dabbing or herb vape will have the very noticeable odor/smell that I need to avoid to stay under the radar.

Those hurt my lungs so much more.

Dry flower vape is super nice, it has a way more subtle savory flavor and the smell goes away quicker. If you can afford it, i highly recommend the mighty+ (or their cheaper model the crafty+) by storz&bickel (same company that makes the OG device, the volcano).

Howdy! My older bro around the same age is also in the same boat - they are still at the early stages of giving up the bottle. I really want to introduce them to this miracle plant - but I’m still holding off a bit longer before anything haha.

Smoking sucks anyway - it stinks, and it’s terrible for your body. Dry vaporizing and edibles is the way to go. Fun part about dry vapes is that you can use different temps to choose what sort of affects you get from the plant.

Welcome! I’m also a fossil who didn’t start using mmj until 40 (aside from experimenting in my teens)! I mainly use it medically, but it’s great recreational too lol

Welcome! good for you! Dope is a wonderful healing plant that has a good chance to improve your quality of life., While smoking or vaping it isn’t exactly the best health wise its certainly better than chain smoking cigs or poisoning the liver with copious amount of alcohol. Tip: buy a pound of delta 8 flower online for 400-600$ and never have to deal with exorbitant dispensary prices again unless you want to treat yourself with top tier stuff. Industrialhempfarms.com is an excellent supplier unfortunately their stuff is intentially low in THC content but its enough to get a little high and is excellent flower quality for the price. If you are interested in getting a dry herb vape which will largely help with the potent smell get yourself an arizer air max as a first vape and later get a extremeq. Once you get grinding to the point the cheapo 10$ amazon grinder no longer cuts it get yourself a quality grinder. Mine is the brilliant cut but some other good ones are the mendo Mulcher, Space Case, and the Flower Mill. I am particularly interested in the flower mill since it touts a no teeth design which would be awesome for cleaning purposes. Anyways have fun!

I’m not sure I’m up for a pound of it across state lines, but maybe I’ll get there at some point. Thanks! I’ll definitely try dry herb next time.

I think you misunderstand. delta/thc 8 and 10 flower is federally legal to buy and sell. its not technically considered marijuana as long as thc9 content in it is below 0.3%. its considered ‘hemp flower’. Delta 8 and delta 10 were federally legalized with the 2018 farm bill along with all other non-thc9 cannabanoids. You can order it right off the internet from a wholesaler 5 states away and have it shipped right to your front door through the mail. Alternatively you can look up “cbd shops near me” and most of them will sell delta 8/10 flower and carts along side cbd flower and carts. I recommended industrialhempfarms because I’ve ordered tons off them and know they are reputable with lab testing all their stuff. There is some legal nuance I am not getting into but just ask your phone 'is delta 8 legal in (your state) and you’ll probably find the answer is ‘yes.’ Unfortunately this also means its an unregulated market with lab testing being optional but that’s why a smart consumer will pick a reputable source ptoudly displaying those test results.

Oh, interesting. I have to claim ignorance on the finer points of the different deltas and laws and what not. Last I thought I had heard about delta-8 (never heard of delta-10) was that what you can buy in most shops in states where it’s not all officially legal could be dodgy synthetic stuff?

That was the rhetoric spread by drug dealers and fear mongerers in the early days. People are afraid of new things and tend to hype up the fear out of caution which I can’t blame anyone for. Stoners arent exactly the most scientifically minded group of people in the first place either which doesnt help. That’s what I first heard too. If you bother to do any kind of reading on the subject you will find its not like that. Delta/thc8 is naturally occurring in cannabis albeit at low amounts. It is essentially the same thing as delta 9 the main psychoactive cannabanoid in cannabis with the exception of one molecular tweak. Delta 10 is yet another variant of THC with one molecular difference too but is indeed synthetic due to it not being naturally occurring. While its hard to say now if these minor differences make any difference to health in long term the general consensus is “probably not” since the chemicals are so similar and essentially interact with the brain receptors in the same way. Its not like how with salt one sodium molecule makes a difference between poison and tasty rock. This stuff has been on the market for a while now tested by millions of people and nobody has reported health issues. D8 exist naturally in dope anyways so people have been ingesting it either way.
