Just checking in for my quit, which starts tomorrow, and hopefully helping get this sub off the ground.

Edit: thanks for the well-wishes everyone. Turns out my wife and I did fight over something stupid, and I smoked, because I’m an idiot. Looking forward to doing it again tomorrow.

I quit about 13 years ago when I had some external incentives to do so and changed my environment to one that made using very inconvenient.

Best wishes to you. Tomorrow I’m certain I will find myself thinking about you and imagining you being strong and winning your battles and war.

Surgical tech and nursing student, here!

We all know smoking isn’t healthy, so it feels a little redundant to drive that point, but even as someone who’s worked in a clinical environment for years, I gotta say I had no fucking clue just how bad it is until the deep-dive into disease processes my recent education has pushed me through.

Smoking fucks with like everything your body wants to do - it’s not just a random cough and the elevated risk of cancer.

    Definitely cheering for you!

Eh, that doesn’t help when my wife is going apoplectic on me and putting me close to a nervous breakdown.

Sometimes I think I won’t be able to quit until we get divorced.

Yeah that sounds like an entirely different problem that I also wish you swift luck with. If that was a regular occurrence between my own wife and I, we’d definitely be getting a divorce - ain’t nobody got time for that. There’s therapy options and the like too - do what’s best for you.
