The version I heard, the big change was motivated by his daughter. But, honestly, I’m not much of a celebrity follower, and my awareness is really peripheral.
Seems like he’s gotten a lot more humble as he’s aged. I recall him being a real jerk years ago (even though he was technically right).

He changed his behavior around that time with professional help, I don’t think children were the key reason - though maybe what set the stone rolling.
