    So signal and YouTube gets banned, but telegram is allowed to operate?

      They tried to block Telegram before and Telegram staged a counter offensive with proxies that kept them online in Russia and made the Kremlin look like fools as they broke the Internet in some places trying to block Telegram.

      AFAIK Telegram has much higher market share in Russia. Keep in mind it’s easier for an authoritarian to “flex” and block smaller fish.

        But but but… the wankies told me Signal Superior was the one and only messaging app capable of circumventing censorship and Telegram is a Russian psyop app with no means of circumventing censorship, which is why most prominent anti-ruzzian channels are on it.

    So Russia fines Telegram and they make national news. When I do it I get laughed out of small claims court.

    Well that contextualizes a lot.

    Several Ukrainian tg channels dedicated to the war suddenly had an issue two days ago where every post was coming up as “you must be older than 18 to view this post” for android users. I wonder if they fucked something up trying to wiggle around this.
