The Pomme de Terre River is proposed for Missouri's list of impaired waters. It could also see wastewater from a meatpacking facility.

TL;DR:

A southwest Missouri river already contaminated with E. coli could soon receive up to 350,000 gallons of wastewater daily from a meatpacking facility.

I may be mistaken but I’m pretty sure this is a fairly popular river for recreation still.
