    Yeah, I never understood the ‘make me feel special’ argument, not fully. As gifts go it feels kinda like artsy stuff (pendants, necklaces, garments, etc) but at the same time it has even less (or another kind of) … I guess social value (how that person is now seen within a group) … ?

    The room ornamental value seems mute compared to potted plants.
    In case that is actually the point, that it somehow looks more aesthetically pleasing without all the other plant parts, … then hitting people a little is fine, as a treat.

      Some plants the flowers are very pretty, but the whole plant isn’t practical to be kept indoors (e.g. roses), and they don’t necessarily flower all year round. If someone has a favourite flower or favourite colour of flower, it makes them feel special when someone thinks to buy them for them (they get a flower they love to look at for the next week, and they know that someone cares about them enough to buy them flowers, and keep the knowledge of which like).
