Steward Health Care said Friday that it is closing two of its Massachusetts hospitals — Carney Hospital in Dorchester and Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer — that received no qualified bids in its sales process. The bankrupt company said it will shutter the hospitals by the end of August.
It’ll be interesting to see if they lock the doors for the entire Carney building. It’s my understanding that the dialysis and rehab units are run by other (non-Stewart) companies.
If the medical system was run by people who actually cared about treating people over profit then the answer to that question would be obvious. Too bad it isn’t.
