    Hello German friends, would you please mark what language you are posting in so that your communities are filtered for people who don’t speak German. Danke!

      Should be a mandatory field, I’ll file a feature request.

      But if it’s not set, it’s undetermined so just go for your preferred language in your account settings.

        In Lemmy (at least in the web interface) it is also mandatory. However, you should bear in mind that there are not only Lemmy users here, but that posts can be written to Lemmy communities from the entire Fediverse (e.g. from Mastodon, Friendica etc.). The language selection does not exist there. If Lemmy defines these posts as ‘underdetermined’, it would really be best to solve this via the preferred languages.

          Yes, we have discussed it. My suggestion is to smuggle it into the API as a hotfix and see which apps crash. Even the official app doesn’t offer this selection. :/
