    Slavery, Texas Observer. Call it slavery. It may be legal, but it’s still slavery.

    Imagine how much more impact the headline would have been if it instead read: Texas’ Plantation Prisons: Inside a 200-Year History of Slavery Shrouded in Secrecy

    Because even “forced labor” doesn’t make it sound as bad as it actually is. Only one word does.

    Something that is not taught in Texas History classes to seventh graders is that white illegal immigrants forced Texas to secede from Mexico because Mexico abolished slavery.

      I 100% learned that in 7th grade. I’m in a blue county if that helps, but I definitely knew.
