What are they going to do about it? Whine that “he can’t do that!” Toothless and pointless as always

A Senate committee can do a few things:

      • It can propose changes to the language of US law so that our relatively weak bribery statutes are a closer to other developed countries
      • It can lay out the evidence for the American people and help get it widely covered in the press, reducing Trump’s odds of being elected again
      • It can deliver the evidence to the Justice Department with a recommendation for prosecution

Have you not been paying attention the last 8 years?

Most people aren’t paying attention, and reminding them of Trump’s corruption is useful.

So not much then. “Hey can you guys stop being corrupt? Here is an action plan that will stop you from being corrupt, we recommend you do something about the corruption, here is all your homework done for you”

“Yea, yea, put it on the pile, it’s at the cylindrical file cabinet”

Did you read their reply or just go ahead and make the statement you wanted to make?

It’s ok to make the statement but don’t pretend the other commenter didn’t actually make valid points.

Trump was just found guilty on 34 felonies and is the Republican nominee for president. It’s probably a good idea to go ahead document any other fuckery he’s up to while there’s time.

My main point is we have been here before, these things have been done before, and i have zero confidence in our system to hold him accountable. The post i responded to said that this will T-up actions for entities that actually have teeth. But so far these entities have been ineffective at best, obstructive at worst.

The jan 6 committee referred and handed over their investigations finding to the doj. Over 1000 have been indicted, many jailed and the fashy don himself is indicted on some pretty serious felonies. So they could do that?

Yeah but is any of that going to stop him from potentially becoming President again? From committing more crimes? End up with him in actual jail or facing any real, non-monetary slap-on-wrist punishment?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating doing nothing. My argument is that this course of action ain’t it bc it doesn’t address the root of the problem: the open secret that wealth and privilege operates in an entirely different criminal and justice system, and the dog and pony show they’re putting on here will only affect the small fall guys while the orange asshole continues to skate away unscathed
