To help us understand the failures of liberal democracy, We ask Slavoj Zizek to provide his definition of Dialectics. Zizek tells us why Hegel would have been in permanent intellectual orgasm, had he lived through the 20th Century of “progress” and witnessed the many cases of Dialectics at play. WW1, WW2, South African Apartheid, the October Revolution, the Civil Rights movement, the opium war, and so on.
Through his analysis, we gain insight on how liberal democratic ideology reproduces itself under capitalism, and all the violence it entails.
