    Oh! Calluses. My first read was “if you repeat the action enough you’ll cause numbing nerve damage,” which has nothing to do with hardening.

      I mean, there’s also nerve damage. When I practiced martial arts, it was considered a good thing when your knuckles and arms suffered enough trauma that there was less pain. 🤷‍♂️

        Is there actual nerve damage or your nervous system changing your perception of pain?
