Anyone have some song recommendations? I’ve wanted to get more into them, but there’s just so much variety that everyone seems to recommend different stuff. What are your personal picks?

Edit: thank you all for the recommendations! I appreciate knowing what clicks with different people ❤

PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation. Whole album’s pretty good, but Dragon and Flamethrower are my favorites from the album.

Prog, but also a lot of other stuff. I’m fairly open minded as far as genre goes, but I’m also a bit picky. I like music that instills a sense of awe and terror. I like “the sublime” in terms of the concept, but not in terms of the band. Sublime wasn’t as sublime as I hoped they would be. Most bands only have a song or two that scratch the itch.

Ooh boy! Prog is one of my favourite genre, too. Just start with Polygondwanaland then, it’s their most proggy album.

They have so many varied albums, I will list a few which I like. You can also use this website to guide you through and explore their discography, https://www.get-into-gizz.com/

I also really recommend Nonagon Infinity, and Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms and Lava for some amazing psychedelic/rock. And some of the microtonal albums (Flying Microtonal Banana). A lot of people are not very much fans of the slower/more chill albums, but Butterfly 3000 is one of my favourite albums from them. Omnium Gatherum’s first three tracks are worth listening, too

Apart from these, Infest the Rats Nest is an absolute banger of a thrash metal album.

Look up a live performance see what songs you like from there.

To answer your question, I’d recommend Work This Time (live), No Body or Crumbling Castle
