I’m not saying Yaweh is peaceful, but the modern Jewish interpretation of Yaweh doesn’t usually include “he wants you to commit genocide” despite what the Bible might say about the Amalekites or Egyptian children.
Regardless of the interpretation, that’s pretty tone-deaf of them (no pun intended) if they thought that was going to win them the competition.
