Also - I’d have totally bought single player DLC from them, but I guess why make a $40 DLC that people only buy once when you can sell $1000’s in shark cards to a few whales over and over again.
Honestly I’m not even that interested in GTA6 at this point, I don’t do GTAO (too grindy) and it’s painfully clear that Rockstar doesn’t give a shit about single player anymore. Hell even in RDR2, a shitload of content that could have easily been ported to single player is locked down in online mode
I’m sore that they’d actually planned single player content for GTA V, akin to that of GTA IV. TBOGT and TLAD were so good, like full standalone games, but just reusing most of the map, assets and engine. However when GTA Online’s success exceeded expectations, they cancelled the single player content and cannibalised it into sub-tier disjointed online junk, leaving behind unresolved single player storylines and hints, that were supposed to feature in the expansions, in their wake.
Yeah, I do kind of hope that this insane games as a service crap dies down significantly. The gaming industry has really lost my interest since 2010 and it doesn’t seem to be putting out anything that scratches my gaming itch anymore.
Totally agree - it’s just plain unfettered greed on R*'s part. Though part of the blame definetely belongs to the whales who encourage this BS by spending thousands of dollars on a single game
Not the main problem, but it is a problem. While you’re right about it taking a long time to do all there is to do in RDR2, there’s no reason besides greed to lock the majority of (for example) outfits to online mode.
Not to mention that I’ll bet anything that we’ll never see a single-player DLC for RDR2 - but the Online mode is getting new content all the time
