btw, I just wanted to say: Thanks to all of you for sticking around! Just thought I’d check and yup, we’re still the biggest single team community as far as I can tell lol. But that aside, it’s a really nice vibe here and I’ve enjoyed talking to y’all lol.
It’s pretty funny to me that this community is not only so much more positive but also so much more active than the Lemmy football community. That one only ever seems to post pro Man United/Spurs articles or anti-Arsenal crap.
You’re all a great bunch of lads (and presumably some lasses too). And thanks for all you do around here Astrealix. This is a fantastic community.
The positivity is one of the best parts of our community. The Match Thread on Reddit and some of the drama that went on was a hot pile of garbage a lot of the time.
It’s very easy to get caught up in the moment and to react negatively when things aren’t going well. But I feel like we all realise how difficult it is to compete at such a high level consistently (we were spoilt a little with Wenger). There are so many variables and I would love nothing more than to see us raise a PL or even CL trophy, but at the same time it’s difficult and I try to temper my expectations accordingly.
I also noticed the same thing about the Football community. It’ll be posts about a recent United win, but Arsenal could upset Liverpool, or something long those lines, and nothing xD
I mean it will take an Arsenal fan interested in the football community to post about Arsenal, no? Can’t blame someone for only posting about the team they follow really.
That’s a fair point, which I guess just shows how largely inactive the community is.
And especially given we have this, why care about c/football imo lol
Feels like a keepint general football community active is a much more daunting task than a team-focused one.
Wait, /c/football isn’t just a United community? Could have fooled me
nah there was that one liverpool post hoping we both lose a few days ago
One thing I do miss about good old r/soccer is that I know less about world football these days, but honestly escaping the toxicity is nice.
Yeah, I hear ya. I also miss all the gifs showing goals, saves, and general craziness that can happen in a match. r/Gunners was good for that too. But overall I’m happy to forfeit that for the nicer community.
I try to stay active, but motivation in general is a struggle (international break didn’t help either, lol). But in all honesty, it probably may have waned a lot sooner if it hadn’t been for you keeping things running.
So, I’d like to thank you for all the time and effort you’ve put in to give us a more positive space space, outside of Reddit, where we can all gather and converse about Arsenal :)
I realise it’s probably very thankless and somewhat tiring to try keep up with all of the posts and such and I am truly greatful
Honestly it’s just so positive here that I’m happy to keep going lol, even when watching the women’s team fumble it’s still like not toxic. Rare sight on social media. Plus it’s kinda fun!
Yeah, you’re disappointed and you’ll be critical, but the games done and there’s nothing else to be done. You just hope they use the result as a learning experience to improve the team
I was very afraid that most people would flee back to Reddit after the initial migration. Very glad to have a mostly-reasonable Arsenal community again <3
I had this same uncertainty too and I really didn’t want to go back to Reddit. It’s sometimes not as diverse here, but I hear it’s a hell of a lost worse now.
I sometimes lurk reddit once in a blue moon for stuff about niche things like indie games, it’s just sad these days honestly.
Thank you for doing so much to maintain the space!
It’s nice to hang with civil people in the match threads here ✌🏼
