ADHD is both a superpower and a curse at the same time.

Members of the squirrel gang tend have the incredible ability to hyper focus on a specific thing for hours without stopping, but they’re also able to forget where they put their phone just a minute ago.

And the joke the universe has played on them is that you have little choice in the matter. Also the mind can be a frightening and exhausting place to someone with ADHD. But when the stars align, you can do incredible things.

Always remember it’s not that you aren’t well adjusted to the world at large, it’s just that the world is not adjusted to people with ADHD, and that’s their loss.

I struggle a lot because it feels like the evolutionary niche I was supposed to fit in no longer exists anymore. I guess I don’t hate having it sometimes, but I hate the way the world views and treats me because of it. I haven’t been able to hyper focus on much these days…

I hate the way the world views and treats me because of it.

This is the absolute worst part. Society is very much designed for the norm (in the statistical sense), and tends to require those that do not fit the picture to put in the effort to conform. The general view is that people with ADHD don’t function, which is a fallacy. The truth is people with ADHD function differently from the rest, and can definitely do great things if not held to the same standards as the rest of society.

Worst thing you can do to yourself is to hold yourself to the standards society tries their hardest to dictate. You are valid. Period.

If you get the chance, surround yourself with people who understand what you’re going through and who can help you compensate for the things you’re not good at.

Depends if you’re able to channel the energy into something you can be proud of. If not, then yeah, hyper focus fucking sucks.
