All oil profits will be taxed extra until it has paid off what it took from the people, right? Were not just taking from the people for the exclusive benefit of large companies right? I’m still confused as to why this was publically funded. Or at least confused to why I haven’t seen the guaranteed public value addressed. No trickle down isn’t a real public benefit.
And jobs shouldn’t count as public benefit. It doesn’t matter who built the pipeline, the workers were and are necessary.
If jobs were the primary benefit, they could have been created in renewable energy industries as easily as in climate and ecosystem destroying ones.
We should be counting up the number of schools, hospitals, and publicly owned renewable energy projects that are funded by pipeline revenues.
Don’t worry they’ll use the profits to invest in carbon capture and save the planet! You should be grateful! Thank your local oil worker.

Over his time in office, Hair guy has made a bunch of against-theme policy decisions that to me seemed like an effort to curry favour with the rabid opposition. Taking on this boondoggle when it was only c$4bn seemed like more of the same.
C$34billion?!? What a gong show. And, like before, the opposition will use that gilded olive branch to beat him about the head and shoulders.
I can absolutely guarantee we’re going to recoup all those costs and then some… and we’ll never have a spill or a leak.
Did I do a good job, do I get a Scooby snack?
Now mountains are trans?! Woke is coming for geography! /s
