I usually hate love triangles with siblings, so I wasn’t looking forward to this one, but it was actually way better than i expected. The story is well told, the characters fleshed out, and all the actions feel real and believable. The thing is, the reason I don’t like sibling love triangles is that they always seem a little too clear-cut and clean (or leaning into fetish-y) in most stories that use them, when in real life they would almost instantly get very very messy, emotionally speaking. This story is pretty much exactly what I’m talking about when I complain about those sorts of stories. Intense and contradictory feelings, deserved guilt mixing in with undeserved guilt, the lines blurred between real reasons to do / not do something and excuses to protect your own feelings. That all said, maybe I should have been careful with what I wished for, because this kind of messy teenage drama I think is a bit too much for me to handle. I do think it’ll end up being a good story, but I think it’s just not for me.

On its own merits, I’d give this a 4/5, but I just don’t have the stomach to watch these kids suffer like I know they’re going to.

A better one-sentence synopsis has never been written before about this series. I fully understand it is not everybody’s cup of tea though and I usually have to be in the right mood to enjoy these types of stories. Like I wrote elsewhere, I haven’t read very far in this series yet, so it might jump the metaphorical shark later like Domestic Girlfriend, but it will be a hell of a ride no matter where it goes.
