    They’re going on trails that other people walk on anyways. What’s the difference between these treads and the hundreds of shoes that walk those trails?

      These types of tracks literally tear up the ground if you turn even just slightly (which will happen constantly). Shoes do more packing down than they do tearing. Also shoes generally won’t affect a path or 2 feet wide or more. Also shoes generally aren’t as sharp or flat as the tracks so there’s just overall far less friction.

      So one is a horrific nightmare for erosion and the other is not.
