“Let’s see now here… It seems that you’ve invented your own religion, where when you die you go to the floating island of Mandango, where no one is ever jealous or bored, and there is wine and steaming hot sex, for eternity. Nice one there, dude.”

“Me too, I go there, too!”

“Nope, sorry I’ve got you marked down as Christian. You go to Hell.”

I’m reminded of Bilquis from American Gods as expanded on by the TV series, whose worshippers / victims (unbirthed during sex with the goddess) go to an afterlife where they orgasm eternally into the great primordial mother (I think).

As a note, she’s supposed to be this Bilquis even though the common legends of her don’t feature her as a goddess of love and sex, so I wonder if Gaiman had sources or was just elaborating.

Incidentally, Arcadia or the Elysian Fields is where Hellenists go who are favored by the Olympians but not enough to be made into heroes or astronomical constellations, and yeah, it’s a Farm Life Sim with double helpings of sex and good booze. It’s managed by Dread Persephone, though in the late Hellenic period, Hades serves as a figurehead due to a patriarchial movement among the mortals where women weren’t allowed to be bosses. (But it’s Persephone’s signature on the paychecks.)
