Why are either of them choices?
Because we have a first-past-the-post voting system that all but guarantees only two parties are ever real contenders. We must to move toward ranked-choice voting if we ever want to have more options.
First past the post voting, Citizens United, and the Electoral College, among other reasons.
Toss in all the barriers to even get a third party candidate on the ballot
I guess that’s the best USA had to offer.
