      Man I really wanna believe that because thinking that people like them could never be happy brings me a sense of solace in a kind of ‘turns our there is still such a thing as consequences’ type of way

        It’s true. The basics of fascism are that you need an outgroup to blame for everything. If you somehow kill the outgroup, you have to invent a new one. Otherwise, people start asking for actual solutions to societal problems, and fascists don’t know what to do with that.
