idk about “favourite”, but the ones I use, which are all perfectly adequate for my needs: LibreWolf on desktop, Mull and/or Vanadium on mobile, DDG

swaylock + swayidle, using wlopm to turn my monitors off after 5 minutes (and lock after 6 minutes, but if I’m going away from the computer I lock it myself with a keyboard shortcut anyway). I try to turn off the computer if I’m away for a while though, as I have full disk encryption.
Political organising and the occasional house party/social event. Sometimes I just go for a walk/wander about, have found some interesting places that way.
Does putting “Reavers” in quotes help?
I am not super knowledgeable about crypto but I thought Monero was untraceable? All the privacy-focused services I’ve seen allow you to pay by Monero. A few accept cash by envelope too.
kyun.host is mullvad-like insofar as your account is identified by a random account ID and they dont necessarily have an email etc on you (you can provide one so they can contact you if you want but that’s optional). Have not used their services myself but I’m aware of them.
Calling making a subreddit private “harming redditors and Reddit” is insane
And yet I can’t beat the CAPTCHAs because reCAPTCHA doesn’t like VPNs lol
I thought you meant military occupations and I was so confused. Like asking what’s the one military occupation you oppose (you aren’t allowed to oppose any others)
It says GNU/Linux but also says “and others” which could mean anything. eg doesnt specify if something like Alpine would be affected—is that “and others”?
In any case, I’ll wait 2 weeks and find out.
Homeschooled or just not educated?
That’s fair. I just use it because it’s what everyone’s on. When I used Briar only one other person I spoke to used it, and I just use Matrix for some more techy communities I’m in. For my friends and non-tech-savvy comrades, they’re all on Signal, and I imagine trying to move people to something more decentralised/more in the spirit of foss/etc would lead to my social circles becoming very split in terms of how I talk to them. But I get your point.
For private messaging? Signal was always better. The way I use Telegram, and the way Telegram should be used, is like another public social media. I use it for following channels that give news about things I’m interested in.
OP is installing the OSes on separate disks. The common disk is for user data, not for the OS.
OP isn’t trying to parse HTML though… they are trying to detect opening xml tags. Which seems quite achievable with regex.
I think blocking roads and publicity stunts are ineffective, but there’s plenty of actually effective stuff you can do, like tree spiking or sabotaging oil infrastructure. I don’t really care if people want to block roads or throw soup at paintings but I don’t think it’ll achieve much. I guess better than doing nothing. But with the draconian punishments people are getting in various countries for this sort of protest, it really doesn’t seem worth it when you could do something that’s also criminalised but actually directly does something to prevent climate change.
Personally I don’t like how a lot of the XR-related groups are so ideologically wedded to nonviolence, to the point where they condemn and actively oppose others on the left they deem “violent” (which is usually just racialised people who acted in self-defence at a protest). I see that as a bigger problem than ineffective protests, because they’re actively withholding solidarity from those who should be aligned with them.
Fifth as in fifth most recent command or fifth oldest?
I still use Discord, but once I get round to setting up my own Matrix server I’ll set up a Discord bridge with my most important friend group servers and move off it for good.
