Is it medically possible to lose 25kg in 45 days? That’s like 1.2 lbs per day. You’d have to eat literally nothing and also run a marathon every single day. This part seems wildly implausible.

Yes it is. He will e starved and dehydrated, on top of extremely busy. In my training years, we lost weight working in UK hospitalson on what we thought were long difficult shifts.

The article doesn’t allege starving, dehydration, or forced labor. Even assuming appalling conditions, with ~500 kcal per day, and accounting for 5-10 lbs of water weight loss due to dehydration, we’d still be talking about a daily calorie deficit of around -3000 kcal. That’s “run a marathon every day” territory. I don’t see how that is physically possible.

There are many reports of torture. Starvation is one of the more harmless things they’d do to you. Here’s a detailed account dating back to the 70s: https://www.un.org/unispal/document/auto-insert-187447/

There’s also a whole Wikipedia article on the history of torture that Palestinians have experienced. This article is easy to find.

There’s also a detailed report on this by Amnesty International. https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2023/11/israel-opt-horrifying-cases-of-torture-and-degrading-treatment-of-palestinian-detainees-amid-spike-in-arbitrary-arrests/

I find it very cynical to question such a well documented, systemic abuse that has been going on for decades. You can easily find before/after pictures of Palestinian detainees. There’s really no need to make up or exaggerate anything when reality „does the job“ well enough.

None of this answered my question.

If you kidnapped someone and didn’t feed them at all for 45 days, they’d lose around 25 pounds. This guy claims he lost 55 pounds. Every resource I find indicates that this is literally impossible, hence my question.

Your question is cynical at best, but probably a sad attempt at derailing the discussion. Instead of talking about the well documented systemic torture of Palestinians you want us to discuss the technicality of whether it’s possible or not to lose x KG in Y days. Let’s say it’s only possible to lose x-1KG in Y days. It won’t change anything about the fact that there are ten thousands of Palestinians who have been detained & tortured by an ethno nationalist settler colony that is currently genociding Palestinians.

I’m asking a super simple question about one of the claims. It sounds like you agree that it is physically impossible to lose that much weight that quickly. I’m not questioning the rest of the article.

I lost 22kg in 7 days, but I was in a hospital undergoing treatment for fluid retention.

I lost about 4L of water every day for 7 days.

OMG, you have no idea. Plus it’s a losing battle. You can’t get dehydrated, so you’re onboarding fluids too.

Our body contains a lot of water. Water weight goes down fast when you lose carbs.

The body can survive 45 days without food so it’s likely they starved him. He must have received water though because we die after a week without water.
