The sign of a thriving guitar community is fools posting photos of their unmodded incredibly popular guitars, so it’s an honor to be the first to share this photo of a JMJM here :P It’s not even the more desirable model, it’s a 2020, and I don’t particularly get along with the ToM bridge, but it’s mine and I love it all the same!

I love my JMJM, honestly so nice to play with the fat neck, it feels better than guitars 3x the cost. I have 5 electrics and it’s my favorite neck of any of them.

The pickups aren’t perfect but are surprisingly solid too, so much versatility with the JM tone/volume controls. They can do anything up to heavy death metal, as P90s they get a bit noisy running outside middle position though, which sounds a little squishy if you want a humbucker sound.

Would recommend it easily to anyone looking for a budget JM or just a solid Fender guitar on a budget.

Oh yeah, they’re definitely built to last! I love that they’re made from unused car upholstery too. I got my girlfriend one of the camera straps as a gift a couple years ago and I think they may even be a little overbuilt for that haha

Thank you! I initially was planning on swapping them out for more traditional jazzmaster single coils but I fell in love with the sounds you can get out of the these. I mostly play indie and powerpop type music and they’re perfect for that

Oh good! My first opportunity to point out that Jazzmaster pickups aren’t P90s! They look very similar, but they’re wound very differently and have a distinctly different sound.

But they’re both pure sex, so you’re not wrong on the fundamentals, lol

In a surprise twist, the pickups in the J Mascis models are constructed more like p90s than typical jazzmaster pickups, with bar magnets along the bottom and the adjustable screw pole pieces. Guess they figured jazzmaster pickups weren’t confusing enough people as is! 😅

They’re great guitars. Have the anniversary verion myself and it’s so comfortable to play.

My brother has one of these! An absolute joy to play, I like it better than even a lot of “proper” Fender (as in, not Squier) guitars I’ve used.
