Haha, he at least seems vaguely aware that they like him later on in the series. The romance (if that’s what it can be called) is all very innocent and bereft of passion, though… given the in-universe ages of their characters, it’s par for the course.
I don’t remember if this is canon or not but supposedly a year to them is like a year and a half to us, which, if true, would put a different spin on things.
