2fort has sewers, you might like what you find there.

(tf2 has “friendly” players around, ive seen it most common in 2fort)

Which, when you come back a decade later for nostalgia, you trade for a dozen guns that you didn’t have to grind for, then disappear into the abyss again

I have played tf2, just never got into it:

modern tf2 is basically unrecognizable to those of us who played tf back in the day (Team Fortress Classic)

that isn’t a critical issue for me, but this one is:

the loads and loads and loads of stuff piled atop the old beast… not helping perf or new user engagement. one of our laptops has a gf 2070 mobile that struggles with tf2, and that’s just sad.

Update: Three days later, all-things-valve guy Tyler says gamefinding in TF2 is just broken - community servers empty, populated servers locked behind paywalls… smissmas bott’ed and just a lack of accessibility to users who aren’t already TF2 vets.

That means your laptop is shit and should be replaced since something went bad with it. TF2 is on the old source engine still. All you need is a potato PC and it runs. There haven’t been any performance issues added on top. Even a mid range pc from 2011 runs it fine. I know, because I played on one for years.

Something’s wrong with your hardware, maybe GPU not switching to higher speeds?

As for the new player engagement issue, i totally agree
