PARIS, April 10 (Reuters) - The European Union will put on hold for 90 days its first countermeasures against U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a statement on X.
“We took note of the announcement by President Trump. We want to give negotiations a chance. While finalising the adoption of the EU countermeasures that saw strong support from our member states, we will put them on hold for 90 days,” she said.
I rather had them follow the us. They first imposed a 25% tariff and lowered it (for now) to 10%. The EU countered the initial tariff with a ~20% tariff and now lower it back to 0% or at least nothing more than they had before. But what do I know, they probably have a reason for their strategy.
