Drag story reading times are universally free. What pisses me off more than anything is right wing nutcases who are prepared to bring violet protest to these sorts of events. This has to have a negative if not traumatic impact on the kids.

it’s never been about kids, it’s always been about hurting people who are different.

Kinda rich really coming from someone reinforcing an oppressor’s agenda, that’s narrative control.
It’s never about identity that’s a scapegoat for the pursuit of power & upholding the status quo Anti-Intellectual/Anti-Communist/Anti-Socialist/Anti-Atheist that’s what they have all in common among others.

    1. Slavery in the United States:
The enslavement of African people was justified through racial ideologies that positioned Black people as inferior. This system was to build and maintain economic power for white landowners.

    2. Colonialism:
European powers used racial ideologies to justify the colonization and exploitation of people in Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The idea of the “white man’s burden” was used to legitimize control over these regions.

    3. Nazi Germany:
The Nazis both race and gender in their pursuit of power. They propagated the idea of Aryan racial superiority and used anti-Semitic ideologies to justify the Holocaust. They also enforced traditional gender roles to control the population.

    4. Apartheid in South Africa:
This was a system of institutionalized racial segregation that existed in South Africa and South West Africa (now Namibia) from 1948 until the early 1990s. The system was used to maintain political and economic control by the white minority over the non-white majority.

    5. Gender Discrimination:
Throughout history, women have often been oppressed and denied the same rights as men. This has been used to maintain patriarchal power structures. Examples include denying women the right to vote, own property, or access education.

    6. Rwandan Genocide:
In 1994, ethnic tensions between the Hutu and Tutsi people led to a genocide where approximately 800,000 Tutsis were killed by ethnic Hutus. This was a clear case of using race/ethnicity as a scapegoat to gain power.

    7. The caste system in India:
This is a system of social stratification and discrimination that is based on birth. It has been used to maintain social control and economic power.

    8. Cambodian Genocide:
The Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia, led by Pol Pot, killed an estimated 1.7 to 2 million people. The basis was political and social, as the Khmer Rouge sought to create a classless agrarian society and targeted intellectuals, city dwellers, ethnic minorities, and religious groups.

    9. Guatemalan Genocide (Silent Holocaust):
The Guatemalan military conducted a campaign of mass murder and rape against the indigenous Maya population, killing tens of thousands. The basis was ethnic and political, as the military government saw the Maya as being associated with communism.

    10. Ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine

i agree with all of what you said, but it looks to me like this post is about how it’s fine for men to do drag and about how what republicans are doing is just transphobic fearmongering. so i’m not really sure what this has to do with it.

unless it’s about other stuff op has said, which i haven’t looked at so can’t comment. in which case, carry on.
