The people who want this want to be that grandpa.
Make America Grandpa Again
Absolutely no regard for the thoughts or desires of anyone other than WASPs? This is a picture from the 50s, right enough.
Good thing we tackled that polio issue.
Well according to a doctor, since lot of people are not talking vaccine now, polio is coming back and the government has added polio vaccine as one of the requirements last year for people. I had to take adult polio vaccine because I didn’t have records that I took it as a child (which I didn’t think would need because it was compulsory for children when I was little).
Well, you have to give it to the 50s. They were closer to shooting Nazis than voting them into the White House.
On the other hand, the Nazis they didn’t shoot were put to work on the space program.
*Cue the sounds of POC being beaten within an inch of their lives for drinking from the wrong fountain *
¿Que?
Black people in America during the 50’s were not treated well. They were hung, beaten, had their homes and communities destroyed often. There were also separate facilities such as schools, restaurants, and fountains. Many places were specifically “White Only.” There were Sundown Towns that pretty much made it illegal to be black after sundown. There were books (green book) written and circulated to make it easier for POC to find hospitable places to travel.
This is not to say everything is all fine and dandy, but POC are usually not the ones dreaming about “the good old days.”
I apologize for wasting your time and effort with that comment. What I was alluding to is that you used “que” instead of ‘cue’. lol
I will say that i still appreciated your comment and that you are exactly right about racism in the US.
Oh shoot, I’m sorry. That comment was too smart for me. 😅
Why is being gay or sick in the same panel as rape and drugs?
It’s a “The past is fucked up”, not “These are all bad people”. In fact, the molester grandfather is the only bad person there.
Getting preventable diseases that have lifelong effects sucks. Being forced to stay in the closet sucks. Being medicated as an alternative to socially undesirable behavior rather than a genuine attempt to alleviate distressing and handicapping symptoms of mental illness sucks. Being stuck in gender roles sucks.
They all suck? Yes. But you’re also just reinforcing right wing vomit with this shitty post. These people are not comparable. One is a literal rapist, the others are existing.
You should be ashamed, and you would be if you weren’t a POS.
He literally just said the opposite of that.

I think you just want to be offended so you can feel morally superior.
Are you reading the posts you’re responding to? It feels like you’re reacting regardless of what they say.
Nonsense. I heard that guy is an expert in reading comprehension.
It’s confusing because the image is clearly displaying issues forced upon people, but he’s talking about like it’s… pro these things?
Yet I think you’re right, it must be us who are wrong about the image.
That was more than a bit of an overreaction
Man really doubled down on whataboutism.
Being sick and gay are also things that happened in the 50s but which were not widely discussed.
I’m saying that they’re in the same panel, moron. Not that they shouldn’t have a panel of their own. It’s a right wing talking point that being gay is to be a pedophile, and this reinforces it by putting them on the same level.
That is not the intention of the meme, and not the way it’s read. Are we supposed to also think that young girls wishing to go to college is also an equivalent to rape just because it’s in the same panel? What sense is there to that? You have misinterpreted the meme. The meaning is as follows: the 50s sucked, gay men were forced to be in the closet, drug use was rampant, women’s rights sucked, sexual abuse was unchecked, disease was rampant, etc. and everyone just pretended life was perfect.
The world doesn’t revolve around right wing talking points, and neither should you. The idea of this meme is so simple, yet you can’t see it because of these arguments in your head. Take a break from the internet, seriously.
