Since then, new evidence has slowly been uncovered about the role of Trump’s attorneys, the operatives they hired and how the breach, as well as others like it in other key states, factored into broader plans for overturning the election.
Emphasis mine
So what is this about breaching voting systems in other states??? That’s rather chilling
Yeah, that bit got my attention, too. I hope when the indictment drops, we get to find out more about it.

Mitch McConnell has been pulling shit in Kentucky for years. It’ll come out eventually.
If they did it in 2020, I wonder what the odds are that they did it in 2016 as well. Maybe he didn’t even really win in 2016, they just cheated a lot. And that’s why they’ve been so upset about 2020, “it worked in 2016, why didn’t it work in 2020 too!?”
Every accusation is an admission.
“The Dems MUST have cheated. We cheated so much, there’s no way they could have won 😡“
I always suspected this is why they couldn’t accept that they lost.
💀
I’m not the person you asked, but I know the reference. I’ll explain.
Have you noticed all the accusations about LGBTQ+ people being “groomers” lately? Meanwhile, Republican child molesters keep getting caught and arrested.
Have you noticed all the baseless accusations of bribery against Biden lately? Meanwhile, Clarence Thomas has been living large thanks to wealthy benefactors just literally bribing him constantly.
Have you noticed the incessant noise about how Dems must have stolen the 2020 election? Meanwhile, Donald Trump has literally been arrested and charged for trying to steal the 2020 election, with another indictment coming soon.
Every accusation Republicans make against anyone on the left is actually a confession of the things Republicans are doing.
Every accusation Republicans make against anyone
on the leftnot on the right is actually a confession of the things Republicans are doing.FTFY. They don’t even know the definition of Leftwing politics.
Accurate.

An important aspect is that if you’re the first to (wrongly) accuse the other side of a particular crime, it takes a lot of the impact away from them when they rightfully accuse you of the same. It makes them sound like they’re scrambling for retribution.
I think we might finally be witnessing the limits of that tactic. If you do it constantly, while your own allies keep getting arrested for the things you’re accusing others of, it begins to lose its power.
It will never be entirely powerless, unfortunately, but I do think we’re seeing it get worn a little thin. One can only hope.
Using it against getting vaccinated for Covid was truly the high water mark in the tactic. Literally killing your won supporters in greater numbers just shows how logic and reason is out the window to obstruction.
Because they can’t fathom that someone would do something nice without an ulterior motive.
Of course, then there’s the classic “buttery males” thing over classified documents.
Not sure if that really fits because I don’t recall any other prominent Republicans having issues with handling classified information/documents at the time.
And Hillary definitely did mishandle classified information (whether it was marked as such or not) and sent it on an insecure personal email server instead of via SIPR or Top Secret channels. Trump, it turns out, did much worse during his presidency and was non-cooperative during his investigation. Biden also appears to have mishandled classified documents, but was at least cooperative with his investigation. This shouldn’t be a partisan issue, we should be holding all the careless/negligent old boomers we keep electing accountable for mishandling classified information/documents. We should be holding them to at least the same standard we hold service members and government employees/contractors to and not giving them a free pass.
There’s nothing that’s going to convince me that Democrats’ pushing onward with Hillary as a candidate instead of choosing Bernie, while downplaying her perfectly legitimate email scandal along with the DNC’s own fuckery helping her cheat during the primary debates, wasn’t responsible for her losing the presidency and giving us the nightmare of a Trump presidency instead. The timing of Jim Comey’s investigation concluding sucked, but she shouldn’t have done what she did and it’s entirely her fault.
But yeah, I guess we can still mock GOP whataboutism with the “buttery males” thing if it keeps making us feel better.
The mishandling of sensitive government communications is and has been rampant in the state department and among elected officials on all sides. As someone who used to work with classified information, I find it sickening.

Days later, Hampton shared the written invitation to access the county’s election office with a Trump lawyer, text messages obtained by CNN show. She and another location elections official, Cathy Latham, allegedly helped Trump operatives gain access to the county’s voting systems, according to documents, testimony and surveillance video produced as part of a long-running civil lawsuit focused on election security in Georgia.
Latham, who also served as a fake elector from Georgia after the 2020 election, has come under scrutiny for her role in the Coffee County breach after surveillance video showed she allowed unauthorized outsiders to spend hours examining voting systems there.
Remember Alfa Bank? Michael Caputo? Burning that Israeli spy? 2 Billion from the Saudis? Chinese trademarks for coffins and voting machines? Oh yeah and the stripping of children from their parents’ arms and locking them in freezing cages? Member?
I 'member the storm troopers…the real ones.
Daaaamn trump’s active election fraud is turning out to bigger than Watergate.
Trump is making Nixon look good. I mean, Nixon resigned when he was caught, Trump lacks the ability to feel shame and regret.
Let’s be clear, Nixon felt no shame. He was simply avoiding further besmirchment.
And imprisonment. There was a deal within the Republican party that if he slinked off into the shadows and got their criminality out of the news that they’d declare that his numerous felonies just didn’t count. That’s one of the many problems with our impeachment process: even if you’re found guilty the people in charge of meting out punishment are members of your own party.
Aroooooo!
I feel a jowl movement coming on!

There is a really good season of slow burn on this. It’s a podcast for those who don’t know.
The parellels between then and now are striking.
I almost typed that exact same thing.
I changed my comment to the more objective size of the scandal since Nixon as a human and president, is a paragon of virtue next to that doofus.

US “politics” => where you can find criminals
Wait. Are you saying conservatives committed crimes to try to overthrow democracy? I mean, who would imagine such upstanding, honest, intelligent citizens could do such a thing?
Conservatism is a plague in desperate need of a cure.
It’s so weird that we saw the USA having a president (of a party) which in my country is equivalent to the very far-right political party which is considered as basically the modern nazi party and wings of it being ruled unconstitutional by highest courts…
This is the best summary I could come up with:
Atlanta-area prosecutors investigating efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia are in possession of text messages and emails directly connecting members of Donald Trump’s legal team to the early January 2021 voting system breach in Coffee County, sources tell CNN.
While Trump’s January 2021 call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and effort to put forward fake slates of electors have long been considered key pillars of Willis’ criminal probe, the voting system breach in Coffee County quietly emerged as an area of focus for investigators roughly one year ago.
Together, the text messages and other court documents show how Trump lawyers and a group of hired operatives sought to access Coffee County’s voting systems in the days before January 6, 2021, as the former president’s allies continued a desperate hunt for any evidence of widespread fraud they could use to delay certification of Joe Biden’s electoral victory.
Six days before pro-Trump operatives gained unauthorized access to voting systems, the local elections official who allegedly helped facilitate the breach sent a “written invitation” to attorneys working for Trump, according to text messages obtained by CNN.
Investigators have scrutinized the actions of various individuals who were involved, including Misty Hampton, a former Coffee County elections official who authored the letter of invitation referenced in text messages and other documents that have been turned over to prosecutors, multiple sources told CNN.
That same day, Friess sent a “Letter of invitation to Coffee County, Georgia” to former NYPD Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik, who was working with Giuliani to find evidence that would back up their baseless claims of potential widespread voter fraud, according to court documents filed as part of an ongoing civil case.
