Yeah, me too because these fucking judges keep doling out slaps on the wrist. What the hell do you expect when you’re consistently sentencing these insurrectionists to, at most, less than half of what prosecutors are requesting?

It reminds me of an old joke from The Simpsons: “You gotta help us doc, we’ve tried nothing, and we’re all out of ideas!”

Lenient sentences send the message that political violence is a low-risk activity, at least if you’re fashy enough.

I’m just gonna throw this out there, but at a ground level, the right isn’t remotely as organized as they were in 2020. There had been a lead up to J6 in the form of other rightwing events and marches inDC that set the framework for J6. There had been right wing counter protests of BLM for all of 2020.

Obv we shouldn’t dismiss anything but the level of motivation for people to show up is far lower. If there was a legitimate Palestine peace movement right now that gave some things for rwingers to organize against, maybe.

But there is just not the numbers of people in the streets to pull a J6 rn.

How many people voted for Biden at the 1/6 riots?

You could believe the propaganda, but I have a hard time believing that anybody who voted Biden would’ve been plotting to overthrow the government in Trump’s favor.

Maybe if they are very noble/gullible and also believe that the election was stolen, but I have a very hard time believing that too. Most people won’t travel hundreds or thousands of miles to overthrow a government unless they firmly believe in the would-be leaders platform.
