General Motors on Tuesday served up some fresh details about the next-generation 2026 Chevrolet Bolt EV at its Investor Day. Notably, GM President Mark Reuss said the new Bolt will cost about as much as the now-discontinued 2023 model, while also being profitable for the company.

“The 2026 Bolt will offer the same value as the original Bolt and much more. And it will be a money maker for us. Think about that,” Reuss said.

The new Bolt will go on sale in late 2025 as a 2026 model, he said. While the final price isn’t set in stone, Reuss said the new Bolt will cost only “slightly” more than the 2023 Bolt EUV crossover, which started at $28,795.

No CarPlay / Android Auto is a dealbreaker for me. I can’t get behind trusting their software will be any good considering I’ve now had 2 vehicles with GM’s shitty infotainment centers crash multiple times just trying to play Bluetooth connected audio. Complete with Windows CE error dialogs and full battery-disconnect-required resets. Still have not had any issue with CarPlay in one of those vehicles.

Own a '22 Bolt EUV. Been a phenomenal car for our needs, e.g. daily commute, grocery runs, weekend family trips w/ the dog, etc. Hope more car companies continue to offer smaller, efficient vehicles instead of focusing solely on large trucks and SUVs.

We had a rental Bolt EUV for about 6 weeks while my wife’s car had a warranty engine replacement. I really only had 2 complaints: the cup holder was slightly too narrow for my water bottle which has fit in every other cup holder I’ve ever used, and the DC fast charging was way too slow for any long road trips. I would’ve very seriously considered selling my car and buying one otherwise, but mine is our roadtrip car. I really liked it, though.

If they fix those problems it would very much be something I’d think about again, although I have concerns about Chevy dropping Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Ooh, the only car I’ve even considered buying new. I don’t have the capacity for an Ev or a new car yet, but I suspect my next car will be a bolt
